Odes in the Framework of Modern Mongolian Culture

The article deals with the genre of songs-odes, which plays an important role in the life of the Mongolian people. At fi rst, they were associated with palace music and were performed by professional singers. Later, odes became popular with the people, they were performed during ceremonial gatherings, events, and signifi cant ceremonies, 
but they are quite complicated for ordinary people to perform. Their tunes are distinguished by their slowness and solemnity, their character is ceremonial or political, and religion and Buddha are often praised in these songs.
