This article considers the paradigm of combination of Opera and
Dance arts from the 1700s to the present. It describes evolution of
the role of stage movement and choreography in opera. It also aims
to identify artistic challenges and problems of harmonious combi-
nation of dance, movement and singing as elements of the synthetic
musical theatre. The 21st century has seen emergence of new forms
of musical performances combining classical dance and academic
singing. Exemplifying this, we observed opera-choreographic duo
presentation. The author studies sources of creative thinking, reveals
artistic background of creative thinking, which is embodied in opera-
choreographic performances, analyzes the structure and the function
of a choreographic component. The article deals with integration of
choreography and opera singing, emphasizing problems, relevance,
and prospects of such work.
