The article deals with the linguistic representation of the metaphori-
cal paradigm “man /surrounding realities” in the fi lm scripts of E.
Ryazanov. Conceptual metaphors that structure small metaphorical
paradigms “man / natural objects” and “man / man-made objects” are
identifi ed and analyzed within the framework of the cognitive approach,
and revealed the specifi cs of functioning of the metaphorical models
in the fi lm scripts. The study confi rms that among the different types of
the conceptual metaphors, the metaphors under study, which form the
paradigm of human images, as well as the metaphors of personifi ca-
tion, serve as an effective means of categorizing and conceptualizing
the surrounding realities, which refl ects the national cultural originality
of the metaphorical representation for the “human” concept.
Keywords: metaphorical paradigm, conceptual metaphor, person, fi lm script, linguistic view of the world
