This paper deals with modern English-language historiography on the issue of religious policy in the second half of the 17th century in England. The author presents the main methodological approaches to research, provides the overview of the main works of Englishspeaking researchers of the 21st century, makes a profound analysis
of the data related to the religious policy of the second half of the 17th century. The author comes to the conclusion that modern English-language historiography is characterized by the study of regional and local religious aspects, including Scotland and Ireland in the study area. Research on this issue combines various methodological
directions — revisionist, socio-historical, liberal.
