This paper investigates nutrition peculiarities of contemporary Chukotka city dwellers, which is related to acquiring and allocating food. The author reveals several strategies of self-provision of food resources: 1) specifi c awareness of food’s prices and qualities in the city shops; 2) local economic activities: fi shing and fi sh farming, hunting, and gathering; 3) buying food from private traders, friends, and through the e-commerce; 4) natural exchange with relatives and friends from the national settlements of Chukotka as well as staying with them. The use of the particular category “Chukchi food” motivates
people to employ different strategies of acquiring food.
