The article proposes the concept of “figuration”, which is the core mechanism for the
formation and maintenance of sustainable development of both individual and social
structures on the basis of their interconnection and interdependence. The use of this
concept in cultural, philosophical and anthropological studies on modern civilisation
helps to reveal characteristic features of transformational impulses and to carry out a
thorough analysis of complicated and contradictory phenomena that underlie modern
social and cultural transformations.
