The prestige of military service increased significantly in modern conditions. This
heightened the interest in military education and military music education in particular.
Russian military education has always stood on strong historical traditions, which
were largely lost in the post-Soviet period and the period of the new Russian statehood
formation. The article provides a historical retrospective of military education in Russia
and demonstrates the temporal relationship between the modern system of formation
of military bands and the peculiarities of the origin of this system. The search for new
forms of construction of the educational process and the maximal focus on the selection of talented students are important landmarks in the development of military music education.
