The article briefly describes the terminology of kinship as a linguistic phenomenon.
The kinship terms do not only explain communicative relationships between people, but
also clearly define social relations between the two sides of a conversation. Due to the
significant cultural differences in Russian and Chinese, pragmatic characteristics also
vary considerably. Therefore, pragmatic analysis of the kinship terms in Russian and
Chinese has theoretical and practical value.
