The article is devoted to the formation of competitiveness of high school students and
the role of creative achievement contests in this process. The article gives the definition
of competitiveness, emphasises its social character and shows the differences between personal and group competitiveness. The author reveals personality peculiarities of high school students in the aspect of competitiveness formation, and some factors affecting it in the senior school age. The author also indicates the directions of a teacher’s activity in shaping personal competitiveness of high school students. Creative achievement contests are considered as a separate effective factor forming competitive personality.
