The paper analyses domestic posters of the 1920–30s devoted to attraction to reading. The author characterises verbal and visual means of poster expressiveness as a pedagogical resource and studies the possibility of their application in the modern pedagogical process. The expressive means of a poster are compared to its emotional impact on the viewer; the key symbols and images of a Soviet pedagogical poster are revealed. The author proves the social and pedagogical nature of the phenomenon under investigation and the necessity to provide the succession of the domestic experience in this sphere in order to use the resources of a modern didactic poster in the pedagogical process.
