THE PROBLEM OF COGNISABILITY OF THE THING IN ITSELF IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF SCHOPENHAUER

A. G. Kornienko
Price: 50 руб.
The article deals with cognisability of the thing in itself in the philosophy of Schopenhauer. According to the author, Schopenhauer, claiming himself to be a direct successor of the Kantian philosophy, denies Kant’s central thesis about the thing in itself that is unknowable in principle. Taking into consideration the views of foreign and domestic researchers, the author concludes that the only way to avoid contradictions in interpreting this issue, is to have a closer look at the methodological principle that Schopenhauer follows.
Key words: Schopenhauer, thing in itself, immediate awareness, subject of willing,
individual will, will-free apprehension.
