The paper analyses the transformation of the sign nature of design sketches based on
their short typology and traces the interaction of conditional and subject components in
modern architectural graphics. The author substantiates the need for the development
of interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches to teaching of graphic disciplines in
architectural and art-industrial universities of Russia. This need is caused by the
improvement of digital technologies and aims at combining traditional teaching in
drawing with the modern requirements of the profession of an architect and a designer
of spatial environment.
