The article defi nes the signifi cance of the Buddhist mural paintings in the Mògāo Grottoes in Dūnhuáng county at various stages of development of China, explains the
reasons for the fragmentation of well-preserved artefacts demonstrating the high level of development of culture and education in the Ancient China.
