This article presents an analysis of the artistic way of depiction
of characteristic features of real-world objects in the Chinese and
European paintings. A comparison of the pieces executed in the genre
of “flowers and birds” and the still life genre, allowed to establish the
specific features of the worldview characteristic of both the Chinese
and Western cultural traditions and to match the artistic concept, genre
specifics and artistic technique. It is concluded that the Chinese art and
ideas tend to move towards reality, whereas European art advances from
the reality to an idea; however, at certain points, those paths intersect
