The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of common life ideas and those
revealed in the empirical study about the system of factors influencing a woman’s arrival
at a decision on termination of pregnancy, which she considers unwanted. The author
shows the extent of typical social myths about this phenomenon, as well as a generalised
psychological profile different from the one which is broadcast in the media.
