The article aims to evaluate modern approaches to professional training of teachers,
who set up activities for children with disabilities in secondary schools. The authors
analyse the demand in these specialists, requirements for their professional competence and present the expertise of Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in implementation of the corresponding educational programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
