The article focuses on imagery and intonation spheres in the Third Piano Sonata by C. M. Weber. The Sonata analysis identifies a romantic interpretation of the concept “from
darkness to light”, i.e. from the heroic and tragic (the fi rst part) through lyricism (the second part) to the carnival-like maelstrom (fi nal). Carnivalesque ending leads not only to the discovery of the world of «universal joy», but also reveals the reality, which is both the object of bantering and denial.
