THE FORMATION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF SACRED TEXTS INTERPRETATION: THEISTIC ONTOLOGY AND EARLY CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

 The specifis of the historical transition between the two epochs is considered through the
case of the famous Alexandrian Catechetical School and the activities of its didaskaloi.
The canon of basic sacred texts, theistic ontology and technique of their interpretation
were developed there. Alexandria was considered the main cultural centre of the East
with a very intensive scientifi and philosophical life. The Alexandrian school is a
classical form of education for the transition time when different traditions co-existed
and interacted. The comparative analysis involves revealing the moments of similarity
and difference of the compared items. Exegetics and apologetics are regarded as a
twofold method of penetration of a religious worldview into social life. It determines
the specifiity of the medieval education, distinguishing it from other epochs.
