The work is devoted to studying the mechanisms of identity formation within contemporary culture. The author of the paper examines the interrelation of the system of typicications including behavioural strategies, verbal and nonverbal sign systems, and the phenomenon of identity. The characteristics of the system of typicication are noted, and its development features are studied. The author concludes that the system of typicication is an important element of modern culture, exerting a strong inflence over the formation of a new type of identity.
