The essence of the concept “a student’s social responsibility” is revealed in the paper.
This phenomenon is understood as an element of the activity and competence concept, as a new quality of personality, characterised by value-pedagogical dominants. The author analyses numerous typologies and classifiations of the values, considered in philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogics. The place and type of social responsibility is determined – among regulatives of value behaviour, whose feature is a person’s choice
of values that are a benefi for others and for himself/herself.
