The paper is focused on the idea of punishment of an individual, who argued against
the generally accepted social norms and against God through assertive “Self”, both in
the philosophical and legal, as well as religious and philosophical contexts. The author
stresses that the subject’s wrongdoing is a result of his/her choice, coming from the
free-will, therefore, according to the author, spiritual perfecting of the guilty can come
only through self-assessment of his/her actions, the need to expiate guilt, remorse and
acceptance of punishment through moral suffering as fairness for the sake of salvation.
