The paper covers the methodological system of forming metacognitive awareness
as a resource of self-regulation of the innovation potential and the common cultural
competence component in terms of the Federal State Educational Standards of students
majoring in engineering and technologies. It contains a target component, a content
component, a technological component and an effiiency- assessing component.
Developmental teaching, competence and subject-oriented approaches form the
theoretical and methodological basis of this system. The content component includes
students’ ideas of their intellectual qualities, among them metacognitive ones (skills,
strategies, ability of self-regulation). The technological component is represented by
stages, mechanisms, organisational forms, methods and means of formation. Testing
of the system in studying physical chemistry showed that metacognitive awareness of
university students determined on the basis of S. A. Budassi’s modifid methods reached
a higher level of maturity due to the use of the system.
Key words: innovation potential, self-regulation, metacognitive awareness, common
cultural competences.
