The article is devoted to the processes of adaptation and segregation of migrants in
megalopolises of Europe and the USA. The economic and demographic situation in
the developed countries contributed to mass migrations of people from less developed
regions. The author shows that the success of integration of foreign culture elements
depends both on the host side as well as attitudes and behaviour of migrants. One can
observe close interracial, interethnic contacts and conflicts arising on the grounds of
clash of interests and ignorance of cultures. The emphasis is on the problem of spatial
segregation of immigrants according to racial, ethnic and religious features. The author
shows the impact of this process on forming of the modern city image.
