VIEWS OF ITALIAN ECONOMISTS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIAL DISTRICTS: THE HISTORICAL AND ECONOMIC ASPECT

 The evolution of the Italian scientists’ views on industrial districts in the 20th century is
described in the article. The author summarises the results of studies made by known
scholars in this field and focuses attention on the Italian school of industrial districts
research. Being finally established in the 1980s, this school has become one of the central and most popular among today’s systems of views, concepts and theories. The author puts in order the Italian scholars’ thoughts and formalises them in a diagram.
