 The paper describes Colombia’s media landscape in terms of the systematic interconnection between the two elements: the press and TV. The description of the Colombian media is presented with a view to the modern information processes in Latin America. The press system is also investigated as an instrument of its owners to infl uence social and information competence of the people and as a fi eld of interconnection between the media and civil society. Regulatory mechanisms are researched through the example of journalist professional organisations.
