SEMANTIC SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE CONCEPTS “AUDIOVISUAL IMAGE”, “SCREEN IMAGE”, “TV IMAGE” AND “ARTISTIC IMAGE” IN THE CONTEXT OF THEIR USE IN THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF TELEVISION

 The article presents an overview of defiitions of the concepts “audiovisual image”,
“screen image”, “TV image” and “artistic image”. Th author reveals their similarities and
diffrences as well as the correctness of usage in the theory and practice of television
journalism. Basing on this review the author proposes defiitions of these terms and
justifis the necessity of such an interpretation. In addition, for the fist time in the
domestic television theory the author makes an attempt to distinguish and systematically describe the three types of TV images in terms of diffrent degrees of the author’s interpretation of documentary material and genre selected by a TV journalist for the most suitable and appropriate organisation of an on-screen composition.
