The article is devoted to Alexander Nikolsky’s late architectural projects of stadiums,
which were designed with the contextual approach. It was the time when the issue of
modern architecture in a historical environment became apparent. The project of the
Lenin Stadium in Leningrad has not been published before; its two variants re扯ect the
situation of the 1940s as a period of conservative traditionalism and contextualism.
