The article analyses visual perception of younger adolescents with cerebral palsy without intellectual disabilities and with mental retardation by means of the Children’s Apperception Test (CAT). The study showed that in the course of detection of psychological defenses by means of the СAT in each case it is necessary to understand whether a child perceives an image correctly. If a child has a reduced level of sensory-perceptual sphere, there is a high probability of misinterpretation of the results in table description.
