The article reveals the value of “youth” glorifi cations in the Upper Oskol song tradition.
Their functioning is in many respects caused by the position of the dominating genre of
the local song system. The leading part in the tradition is occupied by wedding songs.
Wedding concepts and forms pervade the whole local musical and ethnographic system.
