SUBSTANTIVES WITH A SECONDARY MEANING OF QUANTITY IN TERMS OF PECULIARITIES OF THEIR REALISATION IN CONTEXT (the case of the Russian and English languages)

Yu. L. Nigmatzyanova
Price: 50 руб.
The lexico-semantic group of substantives with a secondary meaning of quantity in the
Russian and English languages is characterised in the article from the point of view of
peculiarities of realising in context. As a result of the analysis it is found out that in both
languages substantives in their secondary meaning of quantity are bounded syntagmatically, syntactically and in some cases morphologically as well. This peculiarity shows that the substantives being studied take the intermediate place between a word and an idiom.
Key words: inexact quantity, genitive metaphor, context.
