The article is devoted to the analysis of language representation of agonality as one
of the main parameters of modern German political discourse, which affects speech
strategies and tactics of a politician as the main subject of political discourse. Agonality
as a struggle for power determines the presence of verbal aggression in politics, which is updated in modern German political discourse mainly through modelling the opposition “friend or foe” and the strategy of discrediting a political opponent, which is implemented by tactics of accusations, insult and threat.
