Abstract. In this article, the authors attempted to analyse egocentrism as a barrier in interpersonal contacts. It is emphasised that egocentrism manifests itself differently at different age stages of development of accentuated personalities, which allows us to assume that the phenomenon of egocentrism can be both a necessary mechanism in interactions and a psychological barrier, if one of the partners lacks motivation to communicate and achieve a productive result.
