Abstract. The article presents the relevance of personality upbringing in accordance with the modern realities of a multicultural society and the importance of the education system in solving this issue. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the need for multicultural education of children and its expediency and high efficiency, provided that it is implemented by means of the study of folklore samples in music lessons. The important role of folklore in achieving the goals of multicultural education is substantiated on the basis of some characteristics of a multicultural society. Interaction and mutual enrichment of national cultures through the study of folk traditions preserved in musical samples of ethnic identity make it possible to develop the spiritual and moral potential of the younger generation, multicultural tolerance, general erudition, to form empathy and feelings of compassion, promoting interethnic understanding and value unity in the universal human context.
