The article is aimed at studying the in墓uence of personal characteristics on the formation of coping strategies among top-level athletes. It was assumed that the intensity of certain coping strategies in them would be differentially determined by those personal qualities that are leading in a certain course of university education. The article presents the results of the correlation analysis of personality traits and indicators of coping strategies among students-athletes with a “Master of Sports” qualiBcation. The author revealed signiBcant differences in personality traits and ways of coping with a difBcult situation, as well as differentiation of the relationship between personal characteristics and methods of behaviour in a difBcult situation among top-level athletes, depending on the study course at a institute of physical education.
Key words: personality traits, coping strategies, top-level athletes.
