The paper examines the manifestation of Confucianism in modern teaching in China.
The article analyses the deviation of the current ideas of Chinese teaching, dictated by
new curricula, from traditional teaching. Using the Confucian concept of teaching as
an example, the author of the paper shows the positive aspects of traditional education,
whose abandonment is inappropriate in the modern pro-Western paradigm of Chinese
education. The author also analyses the relationship between traditional pedagogy and
pedagogical tradition and emphasises the distinctive features of these concepts, which
helps to understand not only the uniqueness of national Chinese pedagogy, but also to
study the speciBc historical factors that inꏨuenced it.
