The paper is dedicated to the genre variety of instrumental 
concerto, specifi c to the musical culture of Scandinavian 
countries at the turn of the ХIХ and ХХ centuries, that found 
highly artistic embodiment in W. Stenhammar’s Second piano 
concerto. The composition structure and musical language 
of this work are subjected to multidimensional analysis, as 
well as ways of integration of classic and romantic symphonic 
traditions in it.
Keywords: monocyclic composition, piano concerto, musical culture of Scandinavian countries, symphonization as a principle of composer’s thinking.
