This article mainly takes Zhang Huaqing’s use and grasp of light in oil painting creation as a research object, and analyses the light distribution characteristics of Zhang Huaqing’s oil paintings, which are mainly composed of external strong light. From the perspective of light and dark, cold and warm, pure grey shades, this unique light distribution method creates a strong visual effect in the artist’s works. The author of the paper analyses the works of Zhang Huaqing and reveals the artistic and aesthetic signifi cance of light in oil painting.
