Evaluation of participants of music competitions is analysed in
the paper from the point of view of correlation of the grading scale in
educational institutions with the competitive score as a determining
factor in identifying the result of auditions. On the basis of his long
experience both as an organiser of various events and as a juror at
creative competitions, the author of the paper suggests several methods
of counting votes and the method of calculating the average score
for compiling a rating of contestants. The article raises the question
of possibility for teachers to vote for their students, as well as some
ethical aspects of the jury’s work.
Keywords: competition, evaluation, score, rating, jury, participant, laureate.
