The paper is devoted to the formation of spiritual and moral values in various historical
periods. A personality’s development is inseparable from the development of ethical culture and morality, understanding of the “good” and “evil” categories. A spiritually
enriched person tries to understand the meaning of his/her existence, experiencing the
contradictions between duty and desire, necessity and freedom, sense and sensibility,
beauty and ugliness, morality and immorality, etc. The authors of the paper analyse the
ideas of modern students on the mentioned problem in order to justify the methodology
of forming spiritual and moral values in today’s higher education.
