THE PEDAGOGICAL POTENTIAL OF SKETCHNOTING: SOCIOCULTURAL BACKGROUND OF THE RESEARCH

The paper reveals the pedagogical potential of such a phenomenon of modern visual
culture as sketchnoting (visual notes) and describes the sociocultural background of the
research. The theoretical analysis of the problem indicates the connection of sketchnoting with the traditional ways of working with study texts. On the other hand, application of sketchnoting in various communicative situations is seen as a reection of the active usage of “texts of the new nature”. The authors rely on the convincing statistical data, study the historical analogues and come to a conclusion on the validity of introducing this phenomenon into the pedagogical discourse.
