Based on the analysis of the existing system of professional in-service training (retraining) of specialists, the authors of the paper make conclusions about the need to improve it, in particular in the field of integrated assessment of the level of final competence of students, primarily managers (commanders) of non-standard formations. The authors propose a differentiated approach in determining the degree of preparedness of specialists who completed the advanced training courses (training or retraining in a new specialty) and perform professional tasks in a significant distance from the main production locations.
