Using Folk Literature in Chinese Piano Suites

Art is a comprehensive concept, where works of art have something in 
common, but they are different in the external form and the internal 
essence. Chinese literature is profound and diverse; literature and music 
have been interlinked in many aspects since Xia and Shang dynasties. 
Besides, last century Chinese literature had also a signifi cant effect on 
piano music. A lot of elements of fi ne literature were integrated into piano 
music, miscellaneous combinations of these elements in composing suites 
refl ected the national mentality, its esthetic consciousness, lifestyle; they 
have incorporated the strong humanistic spirit.
