In the history of art there is a problem to signify application of metal
goods in ornamentation of Koryak traditional clothing. The author
made an attempt to consider specifi c application of metal buttons in the
ornamentation of Koryak clothes. It is revealed that the metal buttons
were borrowed from different cultures. The paper analyzes images on the
buttons fastened to the rosettes which decorated Koryak wear: a suede
woman’s dress, headwear and a man’s belt. The author defi ned material,
a manufacturing technique, a country and a date of button manufacture,
classifi ed them. The comparative analysis resulted into the conclusion
that this problem required further research.
