The author of the paper examines the personality determinants of altruistic behaviour.
Values and afĉliation tendencies were assessed as predictors and correlates of altruis-
tic personality. The design involved 170 participants. The results indicated that the im-
portance of Benevolence, Stimulation, and Conformity values were strong predictors of
altruistic personality. The values of Self-Direction and Hedonism were found to be pre-
dictors with negative relationship. Afĉliative tendencies expressed in two scales – Afĉli-
ation and Sensitivity to Rejection – demonstrated a signiĉcant relationship with altruistic
personality traits expressed in the form of attitudes and preferred strategies of interaction
within the group. Signiĉcant differences between men and women were found in their
assessment of value importance and in the results of Sensitivity to Rejection Scale.
Key  words: altruism, prosocial behaviour, values, group afĉliation, fear of rejection,
attitudes.
