The article traces the relationship between the events of the European culture crisis at the turn of the 20th century and the current state of the range of human virtues. The situation of  existential  uncertainty  that  arose  more  than  a  century  ago  still  persists. Thus,  the neo-Kantian de慎nitions of crisis acquire relevant methodological signi慎cance, which helps to reveal the essence of such phenomenon as nulli慎cation of naive deduction of meaning. The comparison of the concepts of neo-Kantianism and the Frankfurt school, their “shifting” to the modern historical and cultural context helps to specify the nuances of the “diagnosis” of post-industrial societies.
