The article analyses the conception of ethical relativism as a methodology of cultural 
phenomena cognition. Essential features of this conception are identi慎ed, its positive 
and negative aspects are accented. The problem of correlation between the objective and relative, absolute and non-absolute, invariant and variant in morality is also a subject of consideration. The fact of correlation between the absolute, universal moral principles 
and varying, relative cultural contexts is comprehended.
