Improvement of professional training of specialists is one of the top priorities for the 
community  of  pedagogical  researchers.  In  the  Beld  of  arts  education  this  problem  is considered in the context of the speciBc nature of the chosen professional activity as 
well as in terms of general conceptual provisions. The purpose of this paper is both to 
identify the challenges for the 21st-century pedagogy in general, and to highlight the 
signiBcance of the culture of phrasing, creative dialogue and spiritual communication 
as factors contributing to the improvement of professional training in piano classes of 
modern institutions of higher education.
Key  words:  pedagogy  of  the  21st  century,  piano  class  of  an  institution  of  higher
