MOTIVATION FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE VOLUNTARY MOVEMENT FOR SUPPORTING READING AMONG YOUNG RUSSIAN PEOPLE

The paper provides an analysis of the main components of participation in the youth 
voluntary  movement  for  reading  among  volunteers  of  different  age  groups.  1302 
persons aged from 14 to 35 living in 76 regions of Russia took part in the research. The 
results provided evidence of the dimensionality of the altruistic – egoistic motivation 
for participation in the youth voluntary movement for reading, where the extremes are 
the  motives  for  establishing  reading  as  an  important  sociocultural  practice  (altruistic motivation) and motives for pursuing personal goals (egoistic motivation).
