The article deals with the theoretical concept of organizing the musical
texture of the outstanding Russian scientist T. S. Bershadskaya. The
main body of the article is devoted to the analysis of scientifi c works of
the researcher and ideas about the musical structure and texture. The
author observes evolution of the theoretical attitudes to the problems
of the musical texture formation. The tradition of studying the musical
structure and texture as complex multi-level phenomena originates
in the works of U. N. Tyulin. According to contemporary ideas of T.
S. Bershadskaya, musical structure is a level of logical organization
of the sound, texture is specifi c embodiment of the idea of structure.
Consequently, this approach has been given priority by St. Petersburg
theoretical school.
