The paper is devoted to two examples of Spanish polychrome sculptures of the second half of the 16th century, located in Prague, as well as the history of their appearance and existence. These plastic works should be analyzed as evidence of Spanish infl uence on the Czech culture through the Habsburg courtyard common to both countries. In addition, the author considers assumptions of universal Baroque principles applied to any territory where they evolved, which is exemplifi ed by the harmonious inclusion of Spanish sculptures in the Czech Baroque culture of the 17th century.
Keywords: Baroque, Naturalism, polychrome sculpture, Czech-Spanish relations of the
XVI–XVII centuries.
